Energy Star and WaterSense Sales Tax Holiday
VIRGINIA – The Energy Star and WaterSense sales tax holiday will begin today and run through Monday, October 8. During this time a variety of “green” products can be purchased free of the 5 percent state and local sales tax.Products must be $2,500 or less and purchased for noncommercial or personal use. The exemption also applies to purchases of used Energy Star and WaterSence items that qualify.
Some Energy Star products include:
• Air conditioners
• Refrigerators
• Dishwashers
• Ceiling fans
• Washing machines
• Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)
Some WaterSense products include:
• Bathroom sink faucets
• Faucet accessories
• Toilets
• Showerheads
• Urinals
• Landscape irrigation controllers
