Stadium Tax Extension Funds New Texas Rangers Home
Texas – The new billion-dollar, climate controlled stadium will keep the Rangers in Arlington, at least through 2054. The city of Arlington will be responsible for half of the of the $1billon price-tag, and the Rangers will be responsible for the other half.
Recently, the residents of the city of Arlington voted to approve the extension of a half-cent sales tax, 2 percent hotel occupancy tax and 5 percent car rental tax for the new stadium. The tax extension was the same that tax rate the city used to build the Dallas Cowboys stadium and will be used to fund the city’s $500 million share of the new Rangers ballpark.
The new stadium is expected to be complete and ready for the 2020 MLB season.
