Goodbye to Feminine Hygiene Products Sales Tax
Ohio – Women in Ohio may be paying less for their feminine hygiene products. Democratic representatives have presented new legislation, House Bill 272, which would make these products sales tax-exempt. This bill was introduced June 6, 2015 and as of October 1st it went to the House Ways and Means Committee. “Pads, tampons and other products are not “a luxury item”. This is a medically necessary feminine hygiene product.” said State representative Greta Johnson, of Akron. If the legislation passes, Ohio would join Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and New Jersey as the 6th state to implement this type of legislation.
