Texas – On September 1, 2015, House Bill 158 took effect. The bill states that the collection of sales tax on sporting goods is to fund the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Ninety-four percent of the proceeds will be credited to that department. The remaining six percent will be credited to the Texas Historical Commission. This money will help Texas parks throughout the state with needed repairs and maintenance.
