Measure to eliminate sales tax on feminine hygiene products/diapers approved by the Texas House.
TX: The proposal (HB 300) would eliminate sales taxes on diapers, baby wipes, and bottles; feminine hygiene products, including tampons, tampons, and menstrual cups; maternity clothes; and breast milk products. Texas families will be exempt from sales tax on menstrual products and certain baby supplies under a bill passed by the Texas House of Representatives Wednesday by a vote of 145 to 2.
Speaker of the House Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont, named House Bill 300 a priority for the first legislative session. The
bill will then move to the Senate side. The proposal, filed by Representative Donna Howard, D-Austin, eliminates sales taxes on diapers, baby wipes, and bottles; menstrual supplies, including tampons, tampons, and menstrual cups; maternity clothes; and breast milk products. Following the Third Amendment of Congressman Bryan Slaton, City of R-Royse, adult diapers will also be tax-free.
